Vocational Rehabilitation Services

American Sign Language Interpreter

Hi! I’m Denise.

I am a S.O.D.A (sibling of a Deaf Adult), which is one of the main reasons I started taking ASL classes.

I received an associate’s degree from El Paso Community College’s Interpreting program in 2019. For my bachelor’s, I double-majored in Interpreting ASL-English and Deaf Human Services. I am completing my Master’s in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling at UTEP and will graduate in Spring 2026.

I created Signology LLC to help people with employment barriers find employment. Signology LLC assists residents of El Paso and nearby cities with interpreting and vocational rehabilitation services.

Church Services

Our team collaborates to interpret the songs and sermons for a group of deaf churchgoers.

MENTAL HEALTH

Advocate and Interpreter

We have covered interpreting in mental health settings, including AA meetings, group therapy, and individual therapy sessions. Previously, I served as the coordinator for Deaf Sensitivity and Cultural Competency training for mental health providers, where I advocated for increased awareness of the needs of the Deaf community. My current studies at UTEP also allow me to become a mental health therapist for the Deaf if I wish to take the certification.
